We are recruiting for a Director, Research & Development with a small company in the neurovascular industry. This person will lead all new product development for the first 3 stages of the Product Development engineering efforts for the company. He/she will have responsibility for directing the design, DV&V and deployment efforts to ensure effective development of new products and ideas. This person will lead the identification, monitoring and, in conjunction with Marketing will assist in evaluation of new technologies and ideas that can be incorporated into the company/current and future products. The Director will also be responsible for leading a team of engineers who will develop high quality innovative products while meeting project timelines. A key focus of the role is to provide strong technical product leadership coupled with equally effective project management skills.
Company is only considering candidates who live in the Minneapolis/St Paul area.
Requirements:
- Bachelors or advanced degree in Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in progressive research and product development leadership roles within global companies that develop, manufacture and sell complex medical devices.
- Integrated software (Solidworks) and project management skills are required.
- Experience in managing the research and development function, with the proven ability to attract, inspire, motivate and retain engineering team
- Proven ability to establish, articulate and implement a concrete product development strategy that clearly aligns with corporate and commercial goals.
- Startup experience is highly desired.
