Location: Based in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, or South Korea

Structure: Independent Contractor initially, transitioning to permanent employment once the company’s regional legal entity is established (expected within about a year)

The Opportunity

Our client is a fast growing company in the medical device industry.  They have retained us to help build their Asia-Pacific presence for their novel, hospital-based capital equipment system in the interventional oncology space and are looking for a dedicated technical leader to be based in the region.

You’ll be the primary technical point of contact across the APAC region (Singapore, Taiwan, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, Philippines, and Australia), working closely with regional third-party service partners who handle hardware and hospital-side coordination, while you own the software and diagnostic side directly.

What You’ll Do

  • Handle software and software-related service work — the majority of the technical workload — while coordinating with regional third-party partners on hardware
  • Triage incoming service calls to determine whether remote support or an on-site visit is needed
  • Travel to sites across the region when issues require hands-on diagnosis or repair
  • Build and maintain working relationships with the company’s regional service partners
  • Operate largely independently, with the backing of a U.S.-based team and full training program

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of experience servicing complex capital equipment — ultrasound systems, surgical robotics, imaging platforms, or comparable technology (backgrounds in defense robotics or other high-precision equipment are also welcome)
  • Experience serving as the technical liaison to third-party service partners, with the credibility to guide their work without direct authority over them
  • A self-starter who’s comfortable working independently in a still-developing region
  • Someone genuinely energized by travel and fieldwork, not just tolerant of it
  • A collaborative, low-drama approach — someone who stays solutions-focused under pressure rather than escalating small issues
  • Software or IT-adjacent technical aptitude; hands-on hardware/mechanical training is provided
  • Able to travel throughout the APAC region; approximately 50–60% at peak times

Training & Support

New team members complete an initial training program at the company’s U.S. headquarters, followed by additional certification training also in the U.S. Ongoing training and support continue from there, alongside a current team of about 10–11 people spanning engineering, field support, and education.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is competitive with similar technical service roles in the region. Contractors are salaried, with a bonus structure; equity becomes available upon conversion to full employee status. Travel-related costs — including car allowance, meals, mileage, and lodging — are fully covered.
